Send-off celebration for MPCC representatives headed to England set for Friday

North Platte - North Platte Community College will have a send-off celebration from 12:45 to 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, for ten Mid-Plains Community College representatives who will visit North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe, England, from Sept. 29 to Oct. 7.
The send-off, which will include the traditional British fare of tea and scones, will take place in the Fireplace Area on the South Campus. The public is welcome to attend.
The trip is the result of the part of a Global Education Partnership Agreement that was formed between the two colleges in November 2007. Since that time, representatives from North Lindsey College and from MPCC have visited their global partners, touring their facilities, exchanging information and visiting with those at the respective colleges.
Globalization and diversity are a priority for MPCC, said North Platte Community College Vice President Marilyn McGahan after returning from England last October. Our trip really showed us that what we do here can have an effect all over the world. We are a part of a much bigger space.
The MPCC contingency that will be going on this trip includes Michele Gill, Area Dean of Student Life/Team Leader; Sherry Mihel, Area Advisor Coordinator/International Studies; Martin Steinbeck, Medical Laboratory Technician Instructor; Becky Meyers, Graphic Design Instructor; Jana Lynn Hergenrader and Laura Legg, MLT students; Ashley Ward and Joni Sandoval, Health Occupations Nursing students; and Julie Derby and Steven Ady, Graphic Design students.
