Welcome International Students!

Campus Life

International students are required to live in the dorms on campus.

North Platte South Campus Dorms

In North Platte these dorms are apartment style and in McCook they are traditional dormitory style. MPCC is unique in offering dormitory living to its students. Most community colleges in the U.S. do not provide this convenience. In this way the student is relieved of the difficulty and stress of finding suitable off campus housing while at the same time ensuring a comfortable and secure living experience close to campus resources. Living in the dorms allows students to meet and interact with fellow students. For the international student, it also allows for immersion in local customs and language.

Each MPCC campus is a short distance from town and community services. Limited public transportation is available although students may choose to have a car. There are grocery stores, state-of-the-art medical services, shopping for clothing and household supplies and technical services (phone, computer) within a mile or two of each campus.

The closest international airport is in Denver, Colorado - a three and one-half hour drive west of North Platte or McCook. Both North Platte and McCook have a regional airport with daily flights to and from Denver. Bus service is also available on a daily basis from Denver International Airport to McCook and North Platte.

Besides clothing and personal items, students living in the dorms need to supply their own bed linens, pillows, blankets, towels, laundry supplies, reading/desk lamps, dishes, cooking utensils and kitchen ware, waste baskets and, if desired, television, personal computer and/or stereo. Please note that there are numerous computers available for student use on campus.

MPCC has cafeterias on each campus. Students choose between 5, 10, 14, 15, and 19 meals per week plans. Our cafeterias offer healthy choices and cater to students dietary needs. Students living in the apartment style housing will have access to a fully equipped kitchen and may prepare any meals not covered in their meal plan.
